POWER BLACKOUTS

SYDNEY HAVING BAD TIME (Rec. 10.45 a.m.)_ SYDNEY, This Day. Fire which damaged the plant in the auxiliary power-house means that extensive power blackouts will continue well into the summer months. The Electricity Commissioner, Mr H. G. Conde, says the fire is a serious blow to Sydney’s power supplies, and that repairs will .take several months.

Sydney has had a record year of blackouts, chiefly occasioned by the inadequacy of the present plant, to handle peak loads.
