BIG QUANTITY OF ARMS FOUND

RAID ON BEDOUIN CAMP (Rec. 8.30 a.m.) CAIRO, Nov. 20. The police claimed to-day that they seized arms and ammunition, worth over £500,000 in a raid on a camp near El Badrashein at the foot of King Zoser’s 5000-year-old pyramid. Twelve people, alleged to be illegally trafficking in arms, were arrested.

The police, acting on information, raided the chieftain’s tent in a Bedouin camp, which is about 17 miles south of Cairo. They found nothing there but an old rifle, but digging in a heap of sand behind the tent they found two wooden cases filled with British and Italian ammunition and spare parts. The whole camp area, covering six miles, was then searched, and large quantities of ammunition were found. It is believed to have been collected on the Western Desert battlefields.—Reuter.
