Mr W. Aitchison was elected to succeed the late Mr Abraham Wachner, 0.8. E., as Mayor of Invercargill, at a special meeting of the Invercargill City Council on Thursday. His nomination was the only one received.
Two war correspondents have been appointed to K Force. They are Mr Peter Llewellyn, of the War Histories branch, who will be Chief Public Relations Officer and Historical Records Officer, and Mr Keith Berry, of the “Evening Post” reporting staff .
Congratulations were extended to Mrs M. C. Curtis at the meeting of the Mid-Canterbury Centre of the Red Cross Society yesterday on her election to the Dominion Joint Council of the Order of St. John and the Red Cross Society. Mrs Curtis’s election follows a lifetime of public and social activities. ,
