RIFLE SHOOTING

, EVENTS AT METHVEN INTERESTING DAY’S SPORT The inter-club shoot between the Methven Gun and Rifle Clubs for the D.I.C. Shield was held in clear weather on a snow-covered ground. In the eye-opener event, 30 shooters took part and the following shot the possible and divided the sweep:—D. S. Harrison, H. J. Harrison, D. Dalton, J. Dalton, S. Holmes, G. Limbrick, L. C. Anderson, W. Burrows, J. Norton, and H. A. Cromie 4 The president’s shoot attracted 23 shooters. D. Dalton was the only one to shoot the possible, and the followingshot 14 targets: D. S. Harrison, T. DHarrison, H. J. Harrison, H. A. Cromie, and N. Anderson. In the inter-club shoot the teams comprised 16 a side. A sweepstake was held in conjunction with the event. S. A. Anderson and J. Dalton shot possibles and divided the prize money. The result of the shoot was: Rifle Club, 241 points; Gun Club, 231. This match was continued at the Rifle Club’s range at night, and the scoring there was:—Rifle Club 1126 points; Gun Club 967. The Rifle Club retained the shield with a margin of 79 points. A trophy for the best aggregate in the Gun Club team was won by D. S. Harrison after a shoot-off with J. Dalton, and a trophy for the best aggregate in the Rifle Club team was won by S. F. Smith after a shoot-off with I. Wilson. J. Dalton won the trophy for the best aggregate for a shooter who was not a member of either club.
