USE OF UNION FUNDS

PUBLIC SERVICE ASSOCIATION (P.A.) WELLINGTON, August 16. A decision to protest to the Government against the' Political Disabilities Removal Amendment Bill on the ground that it is “unwarranted and discriminatory interference in the' private affairs of trade -unions, particularly obvious in the case of the Public Service Association, which has voluntary membership,” was made at a meeting last night of the executive committee of the Public Service Association. “The association does not exercise its right to grant funds to a political party, and it is unlikely to change that prolicy but it does not admit the right of others to lay down how its domestic business shall' be conducted,” said a statement issued by the committee, today. “Furthermore, once the principle of interference Is accepted it could be. extended to other matters of direct and private concern to members.” The statement added that the association regarded the amendment as creating a dangerous precedent.
