SAVAGE CLUB
SUCCESSFUL KORERO Only two. koreros remain on the Ashburton Savage Club’s programme for the season. On Saturday the club will raid Oamaru, on August 29 the Waimate Club will visit Ashburton and the final local korero is scheduled, for September 12. This week’s korero was in the hands of Warriors R. Hughes and J. Coxshall, who were, installed as presiding chiefs by Great Chief K. W. Macfarane. Visitors were present in good strength and they were welcomed by Warrior Hughes. Tlxe programme, which was a wellvaried one, was as follows: Selections by the orchestra; vocal solo, Mr R. Hayward; violin duet, Savages .A. Baynes and G. Blee; sketch, Musical Director R. Milligan, Ex-Great Chief A. McLennan, Savage W. Upton and Scribe A. Rattray; pianoforte solos, Mr N. Harwood; pipers’ quartet, Messrs Guthrie, L. Johnson, K. Bryant and D. Bayne; conjuring, Mr R. Scott; trombone solo, Savage B. Frew; vocal solo, Mr A. McKee; cornet solos, Musical jirector R. Milligan; sketch, Ex-urea-, Chief McLennan, Musical-Director R. Milligan, Brave D. Gibson and Scribe A. Rattray; vocal solo, Mr N. Jackson; sketch, Ex-Great Chief McLennan, Brave Gibson, Musical-Director Milligan and Savage Upton;
