TESTING OF COWS
DECISION OF A. AND P. ASSOCIATION OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS ADOPTER A recommendation made by its cattle committee to the effect that all cotvs supplying milk be tested for tuberculosis was adopted at yesterday afternoon's, meeting of the Ashburton A. and P. Association. Brought forward by Mr G. H. B. Lill on behalf of the committee, the recommendation was heartily supported by Messrs P. P. Cookson, J. Small and R. T. Latimer, and was carried unanimously, with a decision to forward it to the Ministers of Agriculture and Health. A great deal of detail business, mostly in connection with the annual show, to be held this year on November 2, was dealt with. It was decided that young farmers appointed to work with the judges in various classes should be known as associate marshals. That pet lambs in the children’s section are Ao be led was another decision. The allotment of a silver medal from the Royal Show Society was-made by lot to the cattle and pig section,, the committee of that section to decide the class to which it will be given. The Minister of Agriculture (Mr K. J. Holyoake) expressed his intention of opening the show as requested, but in a letter stated his inability to make a firm promise of attendance at this early date. Mr D. S. Studholme pr.esid.e.d. over a good attendance of members.
