RUN ON SHOPS
MANY LINES SHORT !N FRANCE (Rec. 10.0 a.m.) PARIS, August 2. French housewives are uneasy because of the international situation. They have caused a run on shops, resulting in a shortage of soap, sugar, oil and tinned foods. Hoarders have ignored the requests of storekeepers not to panic, and one woman spent- £SO sterling buying tinned sardines. Travel agencies, however, report few cancellations and business as usual.
