SHOT BY TERRORISTS (Rec. 12.30) SINGAPORE, June 22. Three police patrolling the Taiping area of Perak on bicycles to-day were shot at by terrorists. One was, killed and one wounded, but a third sprinted to safety. A total of 16,431 Chinese were detained by the authorities under the emergency regulations up to the end of May, it was officially disclosed today. Of these 5972 were repatriated to China last year, and 4135 released.
