PUBLIC NOTICES COUNTY OF ASHBURTON. NOTICE OF SPECIAL ORDER. AMENDMENT~ASHBURTON COUNTY COUNCIL WATER WORKS BY-LAWS. is hereby given that at a Special Meeting of the Ashburton County Council held at the Office of the Council at Ashburton on,Friday, the 26th day of May, 1950, a Resolution was passed, the object and purport whei’eof is hereinafter set forth and will be submitted for confirmation at an Ordinary Meeting of the Council to ,be held at the Office of the Council at Ashburton on FRIDAY, the 21st day of JULY, 1950, at 11 a.m., as a Special Order to amend the Council’s Waterworks By-laws. A copy of the Resolution is deposited at the Office of the Council in Ashburton and will remain open to the inspection of the public during office hours for thirty days immediately preceding the said 21st day of July, 1950. Dated this 19th day of June, 1950. C. CAMPBELL, County Clerk. Object and purport of proposed Bylaw: 1. Providing for authority to the Council to undertake the cleansing of any water-race or portion of a water-race being part of the Waterworks system under the control of the Council as it may by Special Order determine instead of requiring such work to be done by the owners or occupiers normally responsible for such work and providing authority for the Council to allocate the cost in and about the execution of such work amongst the o-wners and occupiers of the lands through which or adjacent to which any water-race defined by such Special Order shall pass. 2. Providing for authority to the Council for the purpose of such allocation from time to time by resolution to fix the annual charge to be paid by every occupier or owner of the land through which Such water-race or water channel as defined by Special Order shall pass, such charge to be determined by the Council by charging the same upon the owner or occupier i upon a chainage basis according to s the chainage of water-race or races as defined ,by Special Order. 3. Providing that the amount of such charge so fixed shall be paid by such owner or occupier within one calendar month after the same shall have been demanded and if not may be recovered by process of law from such owner or occupier.
