MR D. G. GRANT TO BE RECTOR (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, June 21. Mr D. G. Grant, 8.A., 8.C0m., mathematics and science master at the Christchurch West High School, was to-day appointed rector of the Southland Boys’ High School in succession to Mr. M. Leadbetter. Mr Grant has a notable war-time and sporting record. He rose to the rank of lieutenant-colonel in the 23rd Battalion of the 2nd N.Z.E.F., and was decorated with the Military Cross and the United States Silver Star. He w T as captain of the unbeaten 1932 Southland Rugby team, and represented Canterbury, North Otago and Taranaki at Rugby. He has been a teacher for 23 years.
