F. 8.1. CHIEF’S WARNING TO CONGRESS WASHINGTON, June 20. The Director of the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (Mr J. Edgar Hoover) to-day warned Congress against passing laws to outlaw subversive organisations. Mr Hoover, in liis annual F. 8.1. report, said that the increasing stealth and deceit employed by subversives made the bureau’s work increasingly difficult, but he added: “Suppression and outlawing of subversive organisations by legislative enactment are not the answer.” Mr Hoover said the F. 8.1. needed more manpower to get the information which Avould prevent a breakdown of domestic security.
