EASTER CAMP

MID-CAN TEK BU BY PRESBYTERIANS The Bible Class Camp over Easter held by Mid-Canterbury Presbyterians found its programme somewhat upset by the weather, huj in spite of this was a great success. • Camp Father was the Rev. J. Mathews, of Mayfield, Camp Mother Miss M. Hunter, Christchurch, while visitors were Mr P. Spencer, of Knox College, Miss M. Tinkler, of the 'Deaconess College, Dunedin and Mr R. Smith of the Presbyterian Youth Office. The usual camp activities, studies, services and sports had been planned, hut the weather caused the cancellation of the sports, set down for Saturday, and the picnic, scheduled for Monday. Good Friday saw the presentation of a pageant “Take Up Tliy Cross” by St. Andrews Bible Classes, and in the evening a combined Anglican and campers service in the Anglican Church Hall, at' which the vicar (the Rev. F. C. Main) conducted Worship and the Rev. D. Shaw gave the address. A social and concert was the high-light of Saturday, Sunday was marked by a communion service at. 8 a.m. and services in the Presbyterian Church morning and evening, conducted by Mr Shaw, tvitli campers forming the choir. Monday saw studies finalised, and in the evening a camp sing-song and closing service was held. This last sen vice was conducted by the Camp Father, and proved an impressive and fitting climax to a successful and happy camp. ' , There were some GO Bible Class members in attendance, the young men’s headquarters being in the Presbyterian Church Flail and the young women’s in the Methven District High School.
