TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO (From the “Guardian,” April 12, 1925). Farming Immigrants—Several immigrants have been settled on „ farms near Ashburton, and it is reported that they have proved themselves absolutely satisfactory. Most are men brought from English farms, and while the New Zealand methods may be vastly different from those to which they have been accustomed the newcomers are showing a keen desire to conform with local conditions. English boys for the farms are not obtainable, though there has been a considerable inquiry for such, based on the reports of the good work done by boys brought out to farms in North Canterbury and in the North Island.
