Spectacular Effects NEW YORK, April 9. A “wonder drug,” developed to fight disease, had proved to be a spectacular growth accelerator, it was revealed to-day. Two doctors said that the fungus drug, aureomycin, might become of great value in speeding the stunted growth of under-nourished children. It was now being tested on undersized boys and girls. Aureomycin already had increased the growth rate of pigs, chickens and turkeys by as much as 50 per cent. Minute quantities of the drug had been mixed Avith animals’ feed. The process might eventually lead to cheaper meat, because of reduced production costs. Aureomycin has been successfully used in treating the yirus of pneumonia, whooping cough, dysentery and various other infections.
