PLEASANT CHANGE

Conditions in Ashburton showed a great improvement on those which prevailed" for a number of days. Throughout the day the sun shone brightly, and at 1 o’clock this afternoon temperatures were very warm.. Recordings taken at 9 o’clock this morning were: Maximum temperature 74.9 degrees, minimum 47.0 degrees, earth 55.9 degrees, barometer 29.57 inches. Only 2.6 hours of sunshine were recorded yesterday. OUTLOOK FINE “(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist,. at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: —- General situation: There is an anticyclone in the North Tasman and a depression is passing to the south of New Zealand. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru to 5 p.m. to-morrow is as follows:--Fresh south-west winds at first, winds moderate and variable to-mor-row; weather fair to fine, temperatures moderate. Further outlook: Fine. Yacht Still Missing. —Aeroplane searches have failed to disclose the whereabouts of the yacht Mutineer, which is missing between Victoria and Tasmania with two aboard, including a New Zealander, Mr John Williams.
