BOMBERS FOR BRITAIN

DELIVERY BY U.S.A. NEXT WEEK WASHINGTON, March 15. The first deliveries of 829 superfortresses to Britain will begin next Monday, when four of the famous wartime heavy bombers will be flown across the Atlantic. They have been allocated under the United States military pro gramme for the North Atlantic pact nations. The Air Force declined to say how many superfortresses had been allocated to Britain. The United States Air Force plans to add 1000 miles to the combat radius of nine groups of superfortresses by refuelling in the air. Each group will consist of 45 superfortresses and 20 820 tanker planes. Superfortresses, without refuelling, can take off with enough petrol to carry a bomb load 2000 miles, attack the target and return home. Refuelling will allow the superfortresses to attack a target 3000 miles from the home base.
