WOMEN’S DIVISION

METHVEN BRANCH I The president, Mrs B. Cotterell, presided at the March meeting of the Methven branch of the W.D.F.F., held recently. One neAv member, Mrs D. Hendry, Avas Avelcomed. The executive report was given by Mesdames B. Cotterell and A. W. Wilson. It Avas decided to make donations to the Mid-Canterbury Executive and also to headquarters to the fund to enable Mrs Haldane to attend the conference in Copenhagen. Arrangements for the annual meeting in April Avere made, the committee to meet half-an-hour before the usiial m inting. After afternoon tea members Avere indebted to Mrs W. Cain, of Higlibank, for lavo interesting demonstrations. The first was on Fair Isle knitting, and included a display of attractive frocks, pullovers and cardigans, all incorporating Fair ’lsle designs. Wool rug-making Avas the next, from cut strips of discarded knitted Avear. Mrs W. G. Breach expressed the appreciation of all present to Mrs Cain. The hostesses were Mesdames M. Maginness and A. WESTERFIELD-LAGMHOR BRANCH There was a fair attendance at the March meeting of the WesterfieldLagmhor branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers, at which Mrs W. G. McCormack presided. The secretary reported on the cxe cutive meeting held in Ashburton. After the business Mrs H. R. Tasker, Ruapuna, gave a most interesting demonstration on floral Avork. Mrs W. G. McCormack, in thanking Mrs Tasker, expressed to her the del® appreciation of the members. Hostesses for the afternoon Avere Mesdames G. Woolley and C. Lamb.
