SOUND POSITION SHOWN The 72nd annual report of the Ashburton Agricultural and Pastoral Association, to be presented at„a meeting of the members on Tuesday next, shows the organisation to be in a sound position financially and in good heart otherwise. The statement of receipts and expenditure for the year ended December 31 last shows a credit of £606 8s lid after writing off £279 12s 9d for depreciation on buildings and plant, the profit and loss account shows a profit of £162 6s 3d, while the balance-sheet states that the assets of the association amount to £4255 6s sd. The report reveals a record show in 1949, and makes special reference to the success of the dog trials. The ram fair, held in March last, drew record entries, and the export lamb competition good entries considering the dry season. Serious loss during the year through the deaths of Messrs C. E. One life member and 55 ordinary members were enrolled during 1949 There will be an election only for vice-president this year because two nominations have been received for one vacancy. There are sufficient nominations to fill the vacancies' on the committee, but with the election of the vice-president, one vacancy will occur on the committee. Mr D. S.
