CAMPAIGN AGAINST BANDITS

HONG KONG TROOPS BEING SENT TO MAJLAYA l (Rec. 9.30) HONG KONG, March 14. British troops are to be transferred from Hong Kong to Malaya to support the anti-bandit campaign, says the N.Z.P.A.-R.euter . correspondent, Mr William Parrott. Army headquarters, Hong Kong, announced that the 2Gth Gurkha Infantry Brigade from Hong Kong is being moved to rejoin the parent diyision in Malaya for training in jungle warfare which would include active participation in the anti-bandit campaign. This would enable troops who had been engaged for many months past in strenuous operations in Malaya to be relieved for a' rest and training without lessening the pressure on"the bandits. The transfer of troops from' Singapore is regarded in Hong Kong-as reflecting (1) the easing of the local tension following the peaceful Communist occupation of the Hong Kong border and (2) the British determination to subdue the terrorists in Malaya..
