BOXING AT EMPIRE GAMES
SOUTH AFRICAN CRITICISES REFEREEING \ CAPE TOWN, March 13. The manager of the South African Empire Games team, Captain C. J. Rootman, criticised the standard of refereeing in the boxing events in report on the games held in New Zealand last month. The South Africans were at a disadvantage every time they met a boxer who was continually holding, Captain Rootman reported. “Had the referee-* ing been more favourable, South Africa might have won four titles instead of two,” he said.
