REPORT DENIED
CLOSING OF BURKE’S CREEK MINE (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Rumours that the Burke’s Creek State coal mine near Reefton was to be closed because its working bad become uneconomic were denied this morning by the Minister of Mines, Mr W. Sullivan, who arrived in Christchurch last night after making an in-' spection of mines on the West Coast. He said trouble had arisen in the past through incorrect methods of working, but these had now been corrected through alterations made by the Under-Secretary of the Mines Department, Mr D. H. Denny.
