COMPANY PROFITS IN U.S. (Rec. 10.30) NEW YORK, March 12. The profits of 565 representative American companies last year almost equalled the all-time record set in 1945. The companies’ profits totalled 5,049,852,639 dollars—only 2.6 per cent, under 1948 earnings, thus making 1949 the., second most profitable year in the history of the nation’s industry.
