AMERICAN ARMS FOR EUROPE
FRENCH SHIP LOADS AEROPLANES NEW YORK, March 8. The first of 1,000,000,000 dollars’ worth of American arms and other military aid scheduled to flow to Western Europe in the next few months was loaded on the* French aircraft-carrier Dixmude at Norfolk, Virginia, to-day. It was one of 48 planes in the initial shipment under the mutual defence assistance programme. Officials said that substantial quantities of military equipment designated for eight Western European nations were on their way to eastern ports of the United States.
