IRISH Ml IN ISTER’S DIFFICULTY LONDON, March 3. A clergyman of the, Church of Ireland who was elected to Parliament on February 23, the Rev. J. G. MacManaway, may incur a fine of £SOO sterling each day if he takes his seat. If Mr MacManaway does not take his seat it will increase the Labour 'Party’s majority from seven to eight. Under an act passed in 1801, Church of England clergy are liable to the £SOO fine if they become members of Parliament. Mr Geoffrey Bing, Labour member for the English constituency of Hornchurch, will raise with Mr Speaker the question of a Church of Ireland parson sitting. Mr MacManaway was elected as Ulster Unionist member for Belfast West.
