Mr E. A. Blundell, of Wellington, was elected chairman for the 4 ensuing year at the annual meeting of members of the New Zealand Press Association.

Mr W. H. Amos, who for the last 15 years has been a trustee of the Ashburton Club and M.S.A., has, in view of his impending trip to Great Britain, tendered his resignation.

Sir Cecil Leys has resigned the office of New Zealand trustee of Reuters. On Sir Cecil Leys’s nomination, Mr R. D. Horton has been appointed by the board of directors of the New Zealand Press Association in his stead. —P.A.

Mr J. L. Pedlow, manager of the St. James Theatre, will leave Ashburton to-morrow night for Southland,, where he will spend his annual leave. During Mr'Pedlow’s absence liis position will be filled by Mr H. S. Williams, of Oamaru, South Island relieving-mana-ger for' Kerridge-Odeon Theatres.

Mr E. A. Scott, manager of the Ashburton branch of the Commercial Bank of Australia Ltd., left Ashburton today on annual leave. Mr Scott will visit Nelson and the West Coast. During his absence the branch will be under the management of Mr 11. W. Jones, of Christchurch.

Squadron-Leader F. J. McWhinnie, of Masterton, who until recently was Deputy-Director of Equipment in the Royal New Zealand Air Force, has been appointed to the staff of the New Zealand Air Mission in Washington. He succeeds Squadron-Leader W. F. Falvey, whose four-year term has expired.—P.A-.
