CATALINA FIRE SEQUEL

(Rec. 10.50 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Bryan Wills Monkton, aged 34, managing director of Trans-Ocean Airways, has been charged in Court with destroying a Catalina flying-boat owned by Qantas Empire Airways. Monkton was remanded until December 7 on £2OOO bail.
The charge out qf the destruction, on August 27, of • a Catalina valued at £24,000, while it was •moored at-Rose Bay. There was an explosion aboard the Catalina, which caught fire and was destroyed. Mr E, M. Robson, solicitor for Monkton, told the Court: “Mr Monkton is well known and occupies a very high executive position in the aircraft business of this State. The charge is utterly fantastic and Mr Monkton intends to plead not guilty. He has a complete answer to the charge.” I
