BIBLE-CLASS RALLY
FIXTURE AT WAKANUI The annual Bible Class Labour Day rally was held this year at Wakanui with an attendance of approximately 75 voung people. At the start of the day the Wakanui members served morning tea. A singsong and devotional period followed, conducted by the Rev. D. G Shaw (president of the Bible Class district
committee). The main address was given by the Rev. W. S. Brettell, of Shirley-Richmond, Christchurch. Another feature of the day was tlip brains trust. The question-master was the Rev. D. M. Steedman and the panel Misses Betty Campbell- and June McDowell, Messrs P. McDowell and Gordon Campbell. The questions produced a great deal of discussion from'the panel and also from the audi-lunch-time the roll call was held when 13 classes responded. The main part of the afternoon was
taken up -with sport. The young women’s Watson Cup for basketball was won by Mayfield. The Morgan Shield for senior young men’s sports was again won by Mayfield with St. Andrew’s runners-up. The junior young men's- Marshall Cup was won by St; Andrew’s with Wakanui runners-up. After afternoon tea the closing service was conducted by the Rev. D. G. Qhmjr
