TERRITORIAL ARMY
USE ABROAD IF NECESSARY 4(kec. 10.30 a.m:) LONDON, Oct. 24. The War Minister, Ivir E. Shinwell, in the House of Commons to-day, defended the Government's right to send a British, ' territorial army abroad, if necessary.
A Labour Party pacificist, Mr Emrys Hughes, had protested against a clause to this effect in the Bill modernising the constitution of the territorial army, which consists of part-time volunteers and conscript reserves. Mr Shinwell said the purpose of the territorial army was to defend Britain and, if necessary, to go overseas to attack.
