FIFTY YEARS SYNE (From the ‘-'Guardian,” Aug. 25, 1899). Rugby Football —A match was played at the High School yesterday between teams representing the Trevorton and Netherby juniors, and after a well-contested game resulted in a win for Trevorton' by 9 points to nil. Cotton, Keeley, Pritchard and Hunt for Trevorton, and Adams, Betts, Amos, and Gorman for Netherby w.ere most prominent.
TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO I (From the “Guardian,” Aug. 25, 1924). Passing Through—The Chinese team of Association footballers will pass through Ashburton to-morrow morning by the south express and will be officially welcomed by the Mayor (Mr R. Galbraith) and football officials. Each member of the team will receive an album containing views of Ashburton.—Personal: Dr. W. J. and Mrs Mullin returned to Ashburton on Saturday after a few weeks’ holiday in Australia.
