■— ■ At a meeting of directors of the Ashburton Permanent Building and Investment Society this afternoon, Mr J. B. Nicoll was appointed to the directorate to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Mr J. W. Bowden. 'Mrs L. Sandrey, 12 Middle Road, left Ashburton to-day for Australia Avhere she will spend a six months’ holiday. Mrs Sandrey will travel by. air from Christchurch to Fremantle where she will visit her daughter, Mrs D. Linton.
