FIFTY YEARS SYNE (From the “Guardian,” April 16, 1899). Presentation at Mount Somers — When it became known that Mr Currie was to be transferred from Mount Somers railway station to Rangiora, his many friends in the Mount Somers and Springburn districts resolved that he should not be, allowed to depart without some token of their esteem. At a function held at the station, Mr Arnold, stationmaster, presided. Mr John MeClimont, in the absence of Mr John Hood, presented Mr Currie with a set of planes, and Mrs Currie with an album and handbag.
TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO

Rakaia—The Rakaia Bowling Club is expecting a big attendance of bowiers at their progressive doubles tournament at Easter. Players are coming from Ashburton ?md Methven, and three days—Friday, Saturday and Monday—wm be devoted to the tournament. Messrs Holmes, Borland, Wright and Stubbs, of the Rakaia Club, intend taking part in the rinks competition at Waimate at Easter.
