DUEL FOUGHT NEAR PARIS
HONOUR NOT SATISFIED (Rec. 12.10 p.m.) PARIS, March 24. Honour remained unsatisfied after a pistol duel at dawn to-day in a meadow at Chanteloup on the outskirts of Paris. The contestants were a prominent Paris industrialist, Relf, and a wpllknown water diviner, Messegue, who arrived in cars, each accompanied by two seconds’. There was dispute when the director of- the duel, who was instructed to measure out 40 paces,'Svas seen to be tauing huge strides. Eventually the duellists, after adjustment of the distance, fired two shots without result. They had expressed great'., dissatisfaction with pistols as a combat medium, and rejecting their seconds’ conciliation attempts, agreed to fight- another duel next week with sabres. They refused to give the reason for the quarrel.
