Most people “just can’t be. bothered’’ replying by letter —they desire to get PROMPTLY in contact with the advertiser themselves: 2. People don’t know to whom they are writing; 3. Frequently, when written replies are sent in, nothing further is heard from the advertiser.

Reasons against Advertisers leaving their “Address at the Guardian Office” are—1. Those wishing to reply cannot get your address until next day (or, on Monday, in the case of Saturday nights’ advertisements). It stands to reason that any reader interested in an advertisement will want to contact the advertiser IMMEDIATELY—and the EVENING to most people is the only convenient time of the day for business of that nature. 2. Country readers without a telephone. are barred from ascertaining your address. 3. -The elimination of this form of advertising would save the Telephone Exchange and our Office Staff a considerable amount of Extra and Really Unnecessary Work. We suggest that, at ALL TIMES, the Best, Quickest and Most Effective way to advertise is to — (a) Publish your name and address; -(b) Publish your address; (c) Publish your Telephone number.
