GERMAN NATIONALISTS

AGAIN RAISING THEIR HEADS BERLIN, Jan. 11. “This Nazi-minded nationalistic group are again raising their heads in Germany,” says General Lucius Clay, the United States Military Governor, in his, monthly report. “Democratic German leaders are becoming uneasy over the revival of nationalistic groups,” he says. “One of the movements is a revival of Otto Strasser’s infamous Black Front under the seemingly innocuous name of the League for German Revival. Strasser, now living in Canada, is reported to be planning to return to Germany in March. “The second of these groups is the National Democratic Party, which met at Stuttgart dn November 20.” Dr. Otto Strasser, aged 51, has been living on a farm at Bridgetown, Nova Scotia, since 1943. He broke with Hitler in 1930, and became a political * exile after his brother Gregor, then “No. 2 Nazi,” was killed in the big party purge of 1934. Commenting on General Clay’s report, Dr. Strasser said he intended to return to Germany to “lead a rally of the German democratic forces.” He added: “I lead no party. You might describe our movement as a rally by the German democratic people, (similar to that headed by General de Gaulle in France.” The Canadian External Affairs Department said to-day that Dr. Strasser’s application for a passport to return to Germany would he dealt with in consultation with the Governments which might he interested in - his movements.
