COOL AND DRIZZLY Heavy drizzle began at mid-day today, after a morning of threatening cloud and a cool north-easterly breeze. The maximum temperature yesterday was 73 degrees, and the minimum 56.4, compared with 68 and 45.8 degrees during the previous 24 hours. The earth temperature to-day was 65.2 degrees, against 64.5 yesterday. The barometer to-day had again dropped and. measured 29.78 inches. There were eight hours of sunshine yesterday.

SOME COASTAL DRIZZLE (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General situation: A deep depression over the north-west Tasman is moving south-east. An anti-cyclone is south-west of the South Island.

The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru to 5 p.m. to-morrow is as follows:-

Moderate southerly winds, turning north-easterly to-morrow. Cloudy to overcast with occasional rain or drizzle but improving inland tomorrow. Temperatures cool. Further outlook: Cloudy with some coastal drizzle.
