Mr Fraser is Disappointed ASPECT OF PROMOTION OF UNDERSTANDING (N.Z.P.A.—Copyright) (Rec. 12.15.) NEW YORK, Jan. 10. Weary, and suffering from a heavy cold, the Rt. Hon. Peter Fraser arrived at La Guardia airfield from Toronto this afternoon and told reporters: “All I w r ant is hot lemons.” In a brief press conference, the Prime Minister of New Zealand declared that the Communist successes in China “do not present an immediate threat to New Zealand and Australia, but there is no tellirig what may happen in the future. I do'hot know whether it is a genuine Communist movement in China or just a brigand-led mob.” Mr Fraser would not comment on the shooting down of the five R.A.F. planes near the Egyptian border,- saying: “I know nothing about it yet. I have not even read the reports in the newspapers.” Asked if New Zealand would support any action Britain took in the Middle East, Mr Fraser grinned and said: “That is a mouthful!”

Mr Fraser said he thought the last season of .the United Nations in Paris had been “a disappointment in the sum total of results achieved.” He thought some good work had been done in matters such as genocide and human rights, but said: “In the promotion of understanding on questions such as Palestine, Greece, and Korea it is very disappoint! ing.” *
