WOMEN’S DIVISION
ASHBURTON BRANCH The 19th birthday of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers was celebrated recently. There was a veiy large attendance, most, of the sister branches being represented. Mr A. .T. Nieoll entertained the meeting by exhibiting movie .pictures depicting life in the Middle East, The films were interesting and educational and much appreciated. Prizes won during the year were presented by Mrs F. Johnson, senior- Provincial Executive, Ex-president Mrs Millar won the Begg Cup, closely followed by Mrs Wightman, who received the runner-up prize. The prize for the most improved exhibitor, went to Mrs Wightman, and for the sales table entrant, to Mrs Butterick. Mrs H. Wateon, who had held the cup over a period of years and was in consequence ineligible, received a prize for most points. Mrs B. Allen was appointed representative on the Crippled Children s Society. Four new members were welcomed. Sympathy was extended to Mrs E. M. Begg and Mrs John Fleming who are in hospital. Greetings w.ere received from all the numerous branches pre-ent; also from Mrs G. Scales representing the Hampstead Women’s Institute. Mrs Johnson proposed a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Nieoll for the unique entertainment, Competitions resulted: Large bloom. Mrs Watson 1. Mrs Haughton 2; small bloom, Mrs Millar 1, Mrs E. Haynmn 2, Mrs Wateon 3; spike, Mrs E. Hayman 1, Mrs Watson 2, Mrs Millar 3; shrub, Mrs E. Hayman 1, Mrs Watson 2, Mrs Haughton 3; bowl of decorated fruit, Mrs E. Hayman .1, Mrs Watson 2. A letter was received from a grateful lady in London who had enjoyed and benefited by parcels sent from the Ashburton W.D.F.F. *
