OBITUARY

MR EDWARD J. WILSON Mr Edward James Wilson, who died in Dunedin early this month, was bom at, Christchurch in 1873. His early years wore spent as a. blacksmith on thfc Longbeach estate and on Lagmhor, after which he started a. business of his own at Westerfield. An accident followed by .serious eye trouble forced him to give up his trade, ,so he turned his attention to farming, and for some years managed the Westerfield estate in the interests of Mr A. F. Roberts, the breeder of the famous racehorse Phar Lap. Later. Mr Wilson shifted south, where he undertook the management of Teviot station for the same owner. When the station was sold for closer settlement he took over the management. of Hillsprings, an adjoining station, later going into partnership with the owner,-the late Mr 1. A. Pannett. Mi; Wilson retired in 1926 in Mosgiel. where he resided until Iris death. He is survived by six daughters.
