ATTACK ON VALIDITY
MELBOURNE, April 1. If the Banking Act were held to be valid, under the Commonwealth power over foreign and Australian dinanci corporations the whole balance of Constitution would be destroyed and all restraint on Federal power overcorporations would end, saiq Mr G. . Barwick, K.C., in the Full Court today on the resumption of the hearing of the banking case. To-day, is the 35th day of the case which, if it is not .completed tomorrow. will be adjourned to Sidney ori Mr P ßarwick contended that there was nothing in the Banking Act compel the Federal Government to take over all the trading banks, and that the Federal Treasurer might take over one bank, find the problems too great and leave the rest alone. The official transcript of the proceedings already exceeds 1,000,00 words.
