AUCKLAND POWER CUTS
Hour's Shut-down on Most Days STREET LIGHTS OFF AT MIDNIGHT (P.A.) AUCKLAND, March 31. Restrictions to be imposed in the Auckland Electric-power Board’s area from to-morrow have been announced as follows: Domestic water heating hours unchanged). From 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. seven days a week.
Other domestic power to be cut off for an hour a day between 6.30 p.m. and 7.45 p.m. except Sundays. Industrial supply, including city shopping area, to be cut daily except Sundays betwen 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., specialised industries and hospitals excepted. Street lighting hours reduced to from dusk until midnight. All new. applications for electricty supply, except where commitments have been made or permits issued, will be delayed pending an improvement in electricity supply conditions. Regret that the board had no' alternative but to impose severe cuts in power after the demand for a reduction in consumption from the State was expressed by the general manager of the board (Mr R. H. Bartley). He said the cuts would probably continue until heavy rain fell in the Taupo area. Restrictions might have to be intensified if the required savings were not achieved.
