ASHBURTON CLUB CLOSING DAY FUNCTION The Ashburton Croquet Club finished' the season’s activities with an enjoyable closing day function held on the club’s greens yesterday. A presentation was made to the president, Mrs D. Heenan, who will be leaving Ashburton shortly,’, and trophies won during the season were presented to the winners. Mrs A. Watt, in making the presentation to Mrs Heenah, referred to the splendid work that she had done for the club. Mrs Heenan had held numerous offices in the club and had oeen president for the past few years. She had been a most popular and hardworking member and the club would miss her services sorely. Mrs Heenan, in reply, said that she had been very happy as <a memoer 01 the club and would carry many pleasant memories with her. At the conclusion of her reply, Mrs Heenan was accorded a hearty round of applause. Presentation of Trophies The president presented the following trophies won during the season: Club championship, Mrs H. T. Thompson; B grade championship, Mrs G. Watson; C grade championship Mrs A. C. Robinson; Tucker and Watt Trophies, Mrs W. B. W. Bell and Mrs S. Watson; yankee tournament, Miss M. McDowell (senior), Mrs S. Watson (junior). Buxton Trophies —Section 1, Mrs J. Cleary; section 2, Mrs A. Watt; section 3,' Mrs S. Watsons section 4, Mrs E. Orr. Competitions were played during the afternoon.
