DELICATE OPERATION
EFFORT TO RESTORE YOUNG MAN’S SIGHT (Rec-11.30.) MELBOURNE, This Day. A surgeon has performed a delicate operation at the Royal Melbourne Hospital to restore the sight of a man aged 25. It was the first operation of its kind carried out with the aid of the newlyestablished eye bank, and is similar to the operation being performed by leading surgeons in New York. A small circle of the cornea was removed and a similar piece from the eye bank was sewn in. The eye bank is run similarly to the one in Neyv York, to which people bequeath their eves to he used after death.
