STAY-IN HUNGER STRIKE

THREAT BY CALCUTTA CIVIL SERVANTS (Rec. 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, Mar. 30. The Prime Minister of India (Mr Pandit Nehru) told the National Assembly that Calcutta Government servants were threatening to begin on April 2 a violent st/w-in hunger strike with political motives, reports the All India radio. % “This challenges the Government,” said Mr Nehru. “It is evidently part of a larger movement essentially political and violent which is taking shape in some parts of India. There can be no democratic functioning if a small minority attacks the Government violently to enforce its will on the great majority.”
