PHILIPPINE SOLDIERS MUTINY
THREE OFFICERS KILLED MANILA, March 29. A company of Philippine constabulary soldiers who mutinied yesterday afternoon at Nais, near Cavite, are now reported to be waiting to surirender to General Mariano Castaneda, the constabulary chief. The mutineers machine-gunned their three officers to death and killed a sergeant who tried to intervene. The mutiny is officially regarded as one of the Avorst in the Philippine constabulary’s history. The mutineers claim that their superiors ill-treated them.
A later message says that 44 members of the Philippine constabulary entrenched in barracks at Naie, near Cavite, refused to surrender to-day after the mutiny in Avhich three officers were killed. , The constabulary chief, Brigadier Mariano Castanida, gave the mutineers until midnight to submit, after which troops would begin shooting.
