CAR GOES OVER BANK

ONE KILLED; THREE INJURED (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, March 29. When a motor-car went over a bank at Allandale, between Governor’s Bay and Charteris Bay, about noon to-day, one man was killed and three persons were injured. The man killed was— Rewi Frank Brunsden, aged 49, a married man, of 29 Brittan Terrace, Lyttelton, a truck-driver. The motor-car was driven by Ross Brunsden, son of Mr Brunsden. Ross Brunsden, his mother and Mrs Mary Ellen Crysell, aged 65, mother of Mrs Brunsden, were taken to the Christchurch Public Hospital by a Lyttelton St. John ambulance. Mrs Crysell suffered arm and leg injuries and was admitted to hospital. The other two sustained cuts and were treated as outpatients and discharged. An inquest was opened at Lyttelton last evening before Mr H. P. Lawry, Coroner. Evidence of identification was given by Ross Brunsden, and the inquest was adjourned sine die.

man drowned at WAIIIEKE (P.A.) AUCKLAND, March 29. Ernest Bacon, aged 22, single, a carpenter and salesman, of Ellerslie, was drowned at Palm Beach, Waiheke Island, yesterday. He left his watch and towel with his brother, who was sunbathing. His brother last saw him 50 yards out to sea. Half an hour later he saw no sign. A search was unsuccessful, but the body was washed up in the afternoon.
