The Palestine Government has warned Jews that British security forces will no longer rescue Jewish convoys from Arab attacks if they continue to disregard British instructions. i \ It is officially stated that 210 Jews, Including 49 wounded, from the Jewish 'convoy which Arabs attacked and hemmed into an abandoned village have been brought into Jerusalem. Another official statement says that three Tbombs which were thought to ' have been dropped from Jewish'planes landed near two schools in the Arab port of Jaffa. Slight damage was caused to buildings, but there were no casualties. - ■ President Truman’s statements on a temporary trusteeship instead of the partition of Palestine have “altered nothin'g,” Azzam Pasha, secretary-gen-eral of the Arab League, told the Beirut correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph.” \ ■ He added that the Arabs consider the Jewish announcement of their intention to form a Government at TelAviv on May 16, the' day after the British mandate ends, to be a declaration of war. The Arabs will not abandon the military dispositions they have taken up. 1 , The diplomatic correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” says that the British policy on Palestine has been made clear and there are few grounds for thinking that the determination to give up the mandate on May 15 will be changed. There is little doubt, however, that if there were a genuine truce between the. The Secretary of the Arab Higher Organisation, Dr. Hussein Khalidi, commenting on the Archbishop of York’s appeal to the United Nations to save 'Jerusalem, said the Arabs would shed blood in defence of Christian, Moslem and Jewish holy places. Dr. Garbett should warn supporters of Jew terrorists, who began the bombing of buildings over the heads of innocent people. ' . / PALESTINE TRUSTEESHIP PROPOSAL NOT TO BE PUSHED v MEANTIME (Rec. 12.30.) NEW YORK, March 29. < A United States spokesman said today that the American delegation had been instructed not to press for immediate action on President Truman’s proposal for the Palestine trusteeship, but to concentrate on efforts to obtain a Jewish-Arab truce and a special session of the General Assembly.
