FIFTY YEARS SYNE (From the “Guardian,” Mai’. 30, IS9S). Hunt Club —The annual meeting of the Ashburton Hunt Club was held in Devane’s Hotel on Saturday afternoon. There was a small attendance. Mr T. E. Upton presided. A financial statement was read which showed an estimated surplus, but this was only on the supposition that subscriptions promised and considered good, would be paid. Failing payments of these moneys there would be a. deficiency. TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO (From the “Guardian,” Mar. 30, 1923). Bowling—The Easter pairs bowling tournament, conducted by the Ashburton Sub-Centre, was commenced on the Ashbftrton, Methven and Rakaia greens yesterday, when section winners were found. These will play off on Monday on the Ashburton green. There were two sections, A and B, in play on the local green. Section A Was won outright by J. Smith and J. Boothroyd (skip). 111 section B, J. Stevenson and A. Todd (skip) tied with H. C. Percy (seven heads); the former pair won, one up.
