ST? JAMES THEATRE The current attraction at the St. .James is “The Perils of Pauline,” starring Betty Hutton and John Lund. Filmed in technieolour, the picture is one series of thrills, ill which Pearl White, heroine of many serials, has a big hand. Tlie story concerns the life of the first great thrill star of the screen. The film includes a balloon stunt, performed by Billy de Wolfe. The supporting cast is a strong one. The shorter pictures combine to make an entertaining bill.
GEORGE TOLLEETON SHOW Tn his “Big Magic Show” of 1948, George Tollerton achieves the happy medium in entertainment that is equally enjoyed by adults and children ‘Six first-class artists appear on the bill, and they present outstanding entertainment. Royston, the ventriloquist, is one of the finest exponents of the art who has ever appeared in the Dominion. Magic has a special fascination, and George Tollerton’s brand, which gives “something for nothing” to young people chosen at random from the audience, will bring the artist a host- of worshippers. The comedy of the show is handled expertly by a happy pair, Olga Kay and Lou Cottam. Miss Kay has a rich voice, not heard often enough, and Cottam features in his more peaceful moments clever tap-dancing.
