CANADA’S “MARSHALL PLAN”
CREDITS TO EUROPEAN COUNTRIES
VANCOUVER, March 27. Canada had had its own “Marshall Plan” in operation for some time, said the Minister of Justice (Mr J. L. l'lsley) in a speech at Victoria. Canada, he said, had been extending credits to European countries in greater proportion than the United States to help European recovery, because Canada’s economy depended on a return to settled world trading. “Perhaps at a guess 1,000,000,000 dollars will be spent in Canada, and will greatly strengthen our position, Mr llsley added. “However, if we extend more credits, they will go on the other side of the ledger and will affect our precarious financial position.
